At the heart of Reference 3A loudspeakers are the manufacturer’s own main drive units, which directly couple to the amplifier, with no crossover at all.  In addition, a minimalist crossover is applied to the tweeter. This approach together with other design considerations and the incorporation of various technologies such as AVM and Magnetic Wave guides gives a considerable sonic advantage.
